02 · APPLIANCES WE MOVE

APPLIANCES WE MOVE

Refrigerators and Freezers

HLM transports refrigerators and freezers after the customer has emptied and defrosted them. Identify water or ice connections and keep shelves or accessories organized.

Washers and Dryers

Customers drain applicable appliances before moving. Tell the team about stacked units, pedestals, tight laundry areas and whether a dryer uses gas.

Stoves and Ovens

Electric units can be planned within normal moving scope when properly ready. The customer arranges professional disconnection and reconnection for gas appliances.

Dishwashers

Freestanding or prepared units can be transported. Built-in dishwashers must be properly disconnected, removed from cabinetry and ready before HLM handles them.

Commercial Appliances and Equipment

HLM also moves commercial appliances and equipment. Provide specifications, condition, site access and every required preparation step for assessment.

03 · SIMPLE CONNECTION BOUNDARIES

SIMPLE CONNECTION BOUNDARIES

HLM can handle simple appliance connections and disconnections when the task does not require cutting or modifying pipes or plumbing. The crew does not perform licensed gas-fitting, complex plumbing or electrical alterations.

Describe each connection before booking. If the work requires a qualified trade, the customer arranges it before pickup and separately at destination where needed.

Do not assume a familiar-looking hose, line or outlet makes the work simple. Confirmation depends on the actual appliance and property setup.

04 · GAS AND BUILT-IN APPLIANCES

GAS AND BUILT-IN APPLIANCES

Gas appliances must be professionally disconnected and reconnected by the customer or an appropriate qualified professional. Complete that work before the moving crew arrives.

Built-in appliances can be transported after they have been properly disconnected, removed and made ready. Cabinet removal, pipe modification, electrical alteration and specialized installation are not ordinary moving tasks.

At destination, select a practical placement and arrange required trade work without expecting the moving crew to modify the property.

05 · DEFROSTING, DRAINING AND COMPONENTS

DEFROSTING, DRAINING AND COMPONENTS

Customers empty and defrost refrigerators and freezers and drain applicable appliances. Allow enough preparation time and address remaining water or ice before moving day.

Remove or secure loose shelves, racks and accessories according to the manufacturer’s guidance. Keep hoses, cords, hardware and transportation components identified with the correct appliance.

Report leaks, unstable parts, existing damage or operational concerns. The move should not begin with undisclosed liquid or loose internal components.

06 · MEASURE THE APPLIANCE AND ROUTE

MEASURE THE APPLIANCE AND ROUTE

Record appliance height, width and depth, accounting for handles, doors, hinges and fixed projections. Compare the measurements with entrances, corridors, stairs, landings, elevators and the destination opening.

Origin and destination should be reviewed independently. An appliance may leave through a garage at pickup but require a tight basement stair or apartment elevator at delivery.

Identify truck position, parking, carry distance and exterior steps. Confirm whether doors or detachable parts require manufacturer-directed preparation.

07 · OSHAWA PROPERTY CONDITIONS

OSHAWA PROPERTY CONDITIONS

Older and downtown Oshawa properties may have narrower entrances, porch steps, compact kitchens or basement laundry routes. Established homes can add side doors and finished interiors.

Newer north Oshawa houses and townhouses may spread appliance locations across garages, kitchens, basements and upper-floor laundry rooms. Multiple levels can affect crew and equipment needs.

Apartment and condo customers reserve required elevators and loading access. Provide the building window, loading entrance, unit floor and hallway distance.

08 · SINGLE ITEMS AND REGIONAL COVERAGE

SINGLE ITEMS AND REGIONAL COVERAGE

Single-appliance jobs are accepted under the standard three-hour minimum. Several appliances can be combined with a household, commercial or storage plan when all items and preparation duties are disclosed.

Approved regional pages include Whitby Movers, Ajax Movers, Pickering Movers, Bowmanville Movers and Courtice Movers.

Whitby, Ajax and Pickering are separate municipalities. Bowmanville and Courtice are communities within Clarington. Use complete addresses and correct municipality names for every stop.

10 · QUOTE AND COST FACTORS

QUOTE AND COST FACTORS

Cost depends on appliance number and type, dimensions, weight, condition, crew, equipment, preparation, stairs, elevator access, parking, carries, travel and placement.

Connection status and outside trade requirements affect readiness. Multiple stops, commercial access or storage add scope. The standard three-hour minimum applies, including single-appliance work.

Provide complete information so the quote does not assume that an installed, gas-connected or built-in unit is already ready for transportation.

12 · COMMON APPLIANCE-MOVE ERRORS

COMMON APPLIANCE-MOVE ERRORS

Do not leave food, ice or water inside an appliance. Avoid waiting until crew arrival to disclose a gas connection, built-in installation or upper-floor laundry room.

Measure the route as well as the appliance. A destination opening may fit the body while handles, doors, stairs or turns remain restrictive.

Arrange trade work early enough that the appliance is movable at the scheduled time. The moving crew cannot cut or modify plumbing to make an unprepared unit ready.
