02 · FURNITURE MOVING REQUESTS

FURNITURE MOVING REQUESTS

Single-Item Moves

A sofa, table, cabinet, dresser or other individual piece can be moved without a full household booking. Provide measurements and photographs and identify stairs, elevators and final placement.

Store and Warehouse Pickups

Confirm the seller’s release procedure, pickup window, loading location, packaging condition and authorized contact. Product availability and retailer preparation remain between the customer and seller.

Private-Seller Purchases

For a marketplace or private sale, verify the address, item condition, dimensions, payment and release arrangements before scheduling. The seller should be available when the crew arrives.

Multi-Piece Deliveries

List every piece rather than describing a room generally. Sectional components, table leaves, shelving and detachable parts should be identified separately.

Internal Furniture Moves

Furniture can be rearranged between rooms or floors without transportation. Labour-Only Movers may fit an internal layout change.

03 · MEASURE THE ITEM AND ROUTE

MEASURE THE ITEM AND ROUTE

Record furniture width, height, depth and relevant diagonal clearance. Measure doors, halls, elevators, stairs, landings and turns at both properties.

Do not assume a piece will follow the same route used during its original delivery. It may have arrived before renovations, in components or through an entrance that is no longer available.

Identify removable doors, legs, shelves, cushions or glass sections. Provide photos of tight access and state where the item should be placed at destination.

04 · CONDITION, ANTIQUES AND GLASS

CONDITION, ANTIQUES AND GLASS

HLM moves antique and glass furniture subject to condition, access and safe-handling assessment. Describe loose joints, cracks, chips, previous repairs, delicate finishes and removable glass before pickup.

Photographs help document existing condition and determine preparation. Secure or remove loose contents from cabinets and display pieces as agreed.

An item’s age or value does not by itself determine feasibility. Construction, stability, weight and the full route must be considered together.

05 · DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY

DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY

Appropriate furniture disassembly and reassembly can be included when required. Identify construction and hardware before the crew arrives, especially for large frames, tables, sectionals and modular pieces.

Keep fasteners and labelled components with the correct item. Manufacturer instructions can be useful for unusual systems. Report missing hardware or earlier modifications.

Decide the destination position before reassembly. Adequate room and route access are required for the agreed work.

06 · GATINEAU ACCESS CONDITIONS

GATINEAU ACCESS CONDITIONS

Hull high-rises and apartments may require elevator reservations, loading windows and longer hallway carries. Customers arrange all required building permissions.

Aylmer homes can combine mature-property access with newer multi-level layouts. Buckingham and Masson-Angers pickups may include garages, basements or driveways.

Chelsea and Cantley are separate Outaouais municipalities where larger lots and longer drives can affect truck position. Winter snow and ice should be cleared from the furniture route.

07 · LOCAL, LONG-DISTANCE AND CROSS-BORDER OPTIONS

LOCAL, LONG-DISTANCE AND CROSS-BORDER OPTIONS

Furniture moving is available locally, long distance and cross-border from Canada to the United States. Cross-border customers remain responsible for required documentation and compliant belongings.

Related locations include Hull Movers, Aylmer Movers, Buckingham Movers, Masson-Angers Movers, Chelsea Movers and Cantley Movers.

Hull, Aylmer, Buckingham and Masson-Angers are Gatineau sectors. Chelsea and Cantley are separate municipalities. Ottawa is a separate Ontario city across the river.

08 · FURNITURE STORAGE

FURNITURE STORAGE

Storage can be included when a renovation, possession gap or staged delivery prevents direct placement. Identify each stored piece, expected period and later destination.

Keep hardware, shelves and detachable parts associated with the correct furniture. If a particular storage feature or access condition is needed, confirm it with the Gatineau team.

The later delivery route requires its own measurements, parking and building arrangements.

10 · QUOTE AND COST FACTORS

QUOTE AND COST FACTORS

Cost depends on the number and type of pieces, dimensions, weight, construction, condition, crew, preparation, equipment, stairs, elevators, carries, parking, travel and storage.

The standard three-hour minimum applies. Seller waiting time, extra stops and changed access can alter the scheduled work.

Provide all pieces and both routes in the request. A single large cabinet with difficult stairs may require a different plan from several boxed modular items with direct loading.

11 · CUSTOMER PREPARATION CHECKLIST

CUSTOMER PREPARATION CHECKLIST

  • Confirm item ownership and seller release.
  • Record dimensions and current condition.
  • Photograph the furniture and both routes.
  • Empty cabinets and secure loose components.
  • Identify glass, antiques and delicate finishes.
  • Confirm agreed disassembly and reassembly.
  • Reserve required elevators and loading access.
  • Clear entrances, stairs and destination space.
  • Label hardware and detachable parts.
  • Report access or inventory changes.
12 · COMMON FURNITURE-MOVE ERRORS

COMMON FURNITURE-MOVE ERRORS

Do not rely only on a product name or seller listing. Verify dimensions, condition, construction and release arrangements.

Avoid measuring the furniture without measuring the complete route. Elevator doors, stair turns and destination rooms can be more restrictive than the main entrance.

Do not begin unplanned disassembly or mix hardware between pieces. Confirm placement before reassembly begins.
